Building your website FAQ


Step 1: Choose your theme. You can view each one, and then click USE. Step 2: Edit and build your site by adding blocks and widgets, then content.

Step 3: Remember to “Save Changes” each time you edit the page. Step 4: Click the “eye” icon in the left sidebar to preview what the site will look like.

Each template theme you choose will have specific functionality suited to the type of site. For example, the membership template has all the features needed to manage a membership website. Similarly, if you want to sell products or services online, choose one of the e-commerce template themes.

Where do I get my own domain name?

You will get a free domain name that looks like “sitename.simplifyingtheweb.com.” However, you can also purchase a custom domain name (that looks like “sitename.com”) at GoDaddy and arrange for it to point here. (Technically, you get the DNS (Domain Name System) to be changed to point to this URL.)

What size images should I use?

To keep the page loading time down, try to optimize your images between 72 - 96 d.p.i. (dots per inch). You can use a free website image editor to save for web purposes. For example, pixlr.com

Do you offer free websites?

No, but to start, we offer you a free 14-day trial, without asking for your credit card. When you are happy with your setup and enjoy working with the builder, we will collect your credit card information. (Note: Many free websites have advertising on them - whereas ours don't.)

How do I set up my email?

We do not provide email server hosting, but your domain registrar will likely have it. Also, GSuite or Zoho Mail is frequently used for setup. Contact us if you need help with this email setup; we will quote you separately as each setup is customized.

Which payment processor can I use?

To pay Simplifying the Web: We accept fees for your monthly or yearly subscription plans through Stripe. For one-off services for online marketing, we’ll issue an invoice and you can pay either through Stripe or Interac.

To receive payments on your own ecommerce site: You can choose Stripe, Braintree, 2Checkout, PayPal, or Afterpay.

How can I get the information that comes in from my form?

When you set up your form details, you will supply an email address to receive your incoming queries. The address will be part of the email deployment service you choose. There are several, such as Constant Contact, MailChimp, MailerLite, and more.
